About James Metcalf

James Metcalf I have been drawing and painting since I was a small child. In college my major was fine art. I received my BFA from Arizona State University. My specialty was watercolor, which I still do to this day.

After graduation I went to work in the advertising industry. As an art director I oversaw many photo shoots of products and people which gave me a good eye for composition, lighting, focus and patience. Eventually, I picked up the camera as a hobby, which gradually became more of an obsession. I joined iStockphoto, a stock photo agency, and became an exclusive photographer with my Southwest and travel photography.

I am a painter, photographer and avid iPhoneographer. Everything interests me whether it is a person, a landscape, a detail or the light changing.
